Oekraïense winterdecoratie maken en bewonderen

Zaterdagmiddag 9 december halen we een stukje Oekraïne naar Nederland. In twee uur maken we allemaal een Pavuk (‘spin’ in het Oekraïens) waarmee we deze winter ons huis kunnen decoreren. Ook is dit het startschot van de expositie die voortvloeit uit het "Zatyshok/Gezelligheid" project. Kunstenares Mariia Ivanyshyn, een kunstenares uit Lviv, opent de tentoonstelling, met werken gemaakt door amateurs van alle leeftijden en achtergronden. Het wordt een middag met interessante verhalen, creativiteit en Oekraïense hapjes.

Please join us for the opening of an exhibit of a wintertime decoration called Pavuk ( ‘spider’ in Ukrainian) by Mariia Ivanyshyn, an artisan from Lviv, Ukraine, alongside the crafts made by amateurs of all ages from Ukrainian, Dutch, and international communities of the greater Amsterdam. Following the opening, Mariia will facilitate a workshop for adults where you will get to create your own pavuk.

While a similar decoration exists in other European cultures (Finland, Estonia, and Poland for example), you will learn to make the Ukrainian-style one, and if you wish, decorate your own home with it this holiday season. We hope for this to be a moment of togetherness, creativity, and conversations.

The workshop is a part of the "Zatyshok/Gezelligheid" project initiated by the Ukrainian Cultural Center and School "Dzherelo" Amsterdam, made possible thanks to the support of the Culture of Solidarity Fund, The European Cultural Foundation, in partnership with EUNIC Netherlands.
